In these times, people will notice someone who responds differently than the crowd. True faith in God is the thing that empowers us to react differently. This is not to say we will not have anxious feelings or experience moments of doubt, but ultimately our response should be grounded in God’s promises.
In today’s Bible verse, Solomon says one of the most memorable statements in all of Proverbs: The path of righteousness.
“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” (Proverbs 4:18)
When we enter into a path of righteousness through an encounter with Jesus, and when He shines into our lives, that is like the first gleam of dawn. It is the beginning of light. As we move onward in that path, The light shines more and more until the perfect day when Jesus returns, or we are united with Him and get to spend eternity with God.
“So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness.” (Proverbs 2:20)
If we are walking in the path of righteousness, today’s light is brighter than yesterday’s, and tomorrow will be brighter than today’s. No matter how bad things look at this moment, “never give up hope” because that is a mistake, a deception from the enemy to kill, steal, and destroy us. We stay on the path of righteousness that leads us until we come into the full light and to the full and final revelation of God in eternity.
Life is a journey, and while we are on that journey, it is important we enjoy every moment. There is so much God has placed on our paths right now to make our journey an adventurous one. If all we think about is where we are headed, we will miss out on all the nice things along the way.
The things that we never took the time to see and flew by in the past. While it is great to be focused on the tasks ahead, it is equally important that we enjoy each passing moment too. Life is not just about the future; God wants us to enjoy today.
We need to start by learning to appreciate ourselves and value those God has placed in our paths. Also, appreciate the little things (being alive, able to breathe, having food, family, friends, etc.) God has blessed us with those things. Enjoying the simple little things of life is the key to enjoying the spiritual realities as well.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
If you are on that path of righteousness, keep moving on, and if you have not yet found the path of righteousness, you need to meet Jesus and make Him Lord of your life.
